Induction Training Programme for New HR Staff/School Administrators

Event Summary This new structured induction programme is essential for any new HR staff or school administrators who have responsibility for HR. The programme combines online training, practical exercises and tutor sessions covering the key aspects of HR that will be encountered on a regular basis. The training offers a structured programme of sessions over one full academic term to give delegates time to gain confidence and knowledge in these key areas and be able to apply this knowledge in practice in a support environment.
Event description
Delegates must be able to attend all 8 sessions of the induction course. When signing up to the Induction course, delegates will automatically be added onto all training sessions. All delegates will be assigned an induction tutor to provide one to one support and advice throughout the period of the induction programme. Scheduled catch up sessions will also be available throughout the programme to enable queries to be answered and support to be provided where required.  
 
The event timetable, containing course details, dates and times have been listed below.
 
1.   Tutor session 1: Introduction to programme and HR information & resources - 11th January 9.30am-11.30am
 
2.   Recruiting and checking new staff - 18th January 9.30am-11.30am
 
3.   Maintaining the SCR for:
  • Maintained schools - 1st February 9.30am-11.30am OR
  • Academies & MATs -
    25th January
    9.30am-11.30am 
 
4.   Teachers pay and conditions - 22nd February 10.45am-12.00am
 
5.   Support staff pay and conditions - 22nd February 9:30am-10.30am
 
6.   Tutor session 2: mid-programme catch up - 1st March 11.30am-12.30pm
 
7.   Contracts training - 16th March 9.30am-11.30am 
 
8.   Tutor session 3: final session - 29th March 9.30am-11.30am.
 
Each online course will be presented by HR professionals from the Education HR team using Teams. The assigned tutor will run the introduction session, mid-programme tutor session and final session.

Learning outcomes At the end of the Induction Programme delegates will have a working knowledge of:
  • Where to find key sources of HR information, advice and support;
  • The recruitment process, the relevant pre-employment checks and how to maintain the Single Central Record;
  • The pay and conditions for support staff and teachers;
  • Contracts of employment and how to issue them; and
  • How to administer sickness absence, leave of absence and child related absences
