Event Summary | During the course we will look at what the research tells us about teaching explore the processes involved. | ||||||
Event description | The course begins with a quick review of recent research on the effective teaching of writing. Drawing evidence from a range of studies and reports we will identify the key skills pupils need in order to become skilled writers. This will be linked with the National Curriculum and the expectations for writing. Building on the research we will then explore the different elements of the writing process and what we as teachers need to consider when we are teaching pupils to write. Finally we will look at different ways of teaching writing, including shared and guided writing, and the need to develop pupils' independent writing skills. |
