Event Code CPD 20/164
Event type Course / Webinar
Event categories N/A
Event Summary A webinar to explore how to effectively support children to know and understand their multiplication tables.
Event description Following the pilot of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), there was due to be a full roll out with all Year 4 pupils undertaking the check in June 2020. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DfE have stated on their website that the 2020 assessments will not take place. However, there is every intention that the MTC will be undertaken in June 2021. Effective learning and teaching of multiplication facts, therefore, remains a priority for national assessment. As teachers, however, we understand that knowledge of multiplication tables goes beyond the need to pass a test, but that it forms a fundamental building block for success with mathematics.

This webinar will support teachers and mathematics subject leaders to review their current provision for teaching times tables by the end of year 4. We will share systems, strategies and practical resources to support the learning of these number facts in preparation for the national, statutory test
