This is an opportunity for subject leaders for history to update themselves with effective practice in the teaching of history in the primary phase
Event description
With OFSTED's current focus on the quality of the broader curriculum, schools are working to ensure that the best quality of curriculum possible is experienced by the children. This session will update delegates about what constitutes effective practice in the learning and teaching of history. The underlying principles of an effective history curriculum will be explored in terms of skills, coverage and assessment.
Additional information
Delegates should bring with them their school's current curriculum overview for history. In addition, a sample of pupil outcomes from across the school (two or three children's books / folders from each year group should suffice) of pupils who are on track to attain age related expectations in history will be needed for the session.
Learning outcomes
Delegates will be clear about the features of an effective history curriculum.
