Event Summary | This Maths course is designed for teachers who are new to teaching Year 2. It will provide the opportunity to explore the expectations of the national curriculum and understand assessment requirements. There will be a range of practical activities and strategies aimed at making learning fun and engaging as well as maximising achievement. | ||||||
Event description | This session will be led by a Juniper Education adviser who is a subject specialist and has experience of teaching Year 2. When teaching Year 2 it is important for both teachers and pupils that revision and assessment is balanced with high quality teaching. This course will provide: - A focus on identifying the starting points for each pupil - Different approaches for developing conceptual understanding and a focus on reasoning skills - An understanding of the assessment process and preparation for the tests It will also be an opportunity to meet and share with other new Year 2 teachers. |

Additional information | Kate Magill - Education Adviser (Teaching & Learning) Kate has 15 years of teaching and leadership experience within EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the UK and an International Primary School in Italy. Kate's passion is improving the quality of mathematics provision whether that is through the innovative Mathematics Subject Leader network subscription,bespoke school based work or centrally delivered professional development. Mathematics interventions are also an area that Kate specialises in. Kate is an experienced KS1 moderator and KS2 writing moderator. She is an accredited Numicon trainer, a Lead Provider of Professional Development with NCETM and a Local Consultant for Improvement with DfE. Displayed fees are subject to VAT |
