Primary English: Leading On Phonics: Helping pupils to get back on track

Event Code CPD 20/029
Event type Course
Event categories Leadership / Teaching
Event Summary In light of the current focus on phonics and reading in recent Ofsted inspections and the need for pupils to catch up on all they have missed due to Covid-19, this course will provide an opportunity for phonics leads in Primary schools to consider current research and information and to share good practice around the teaching and monitoring of phonics
Event description This session will provide an opportunity for those who are leading on phonics to network, share what is going well and discuss issues and areas of concern. In particular we will consider what the new inspection framework says about early reading and the teaching of phonics and look at some of the issues which have been raised in recent Ofsted reports. We will also consider the link between phonics and spelling.
