Event description This 7 hour (one day) course will provide knowledge about common mental health conditions which will enable you to support your pupils as well as provide hints and tips for improving and maintaining your own mental wellbeing. We look at the short and long term impacts of poor mental health on both the whole person and their learning, as well as some key elements which affect young people in today's society such as social media, the internet, gaming and building resilience as well as the effect of being a young carer on young people's mental health. The course covers stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, supporting people with suicidal tendencies, and the stigma of mental health and how we can play a part in encouraging people to discuss it more. You will also examine harmful coping strategies such as self harm, eating disorders and substance abuse and develop skills in starting and progressing an effective conversation about mental health as well as understanding strategies and activities which can improve mental wellbeing.
Additional information All delegates will be provided with an e-copy of the course booklet and resources to use during the session, and will also be able to access various digital resources for their own professional and personal use on completion of the course. Delegates who complete the course will receive an attendance certificate via email.

The session will be delivered remotely using Zoom/TEAMS. A link to the meeting will be sent out in advance.
