| Event Summary | This course will provide LSAs and supply teachers, and others who are new to or lacking confidence in teaching phonics, with the knowledge and skills they need to lead phonic sessions in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. | ||||||
| Event description | This course will provide delegates with a knowledge and understanding of relevant terminology for the teaching of phonics and the correct enunciation of phonemes. It will include an overview of expectations for progression and pace through Early Years and KS1, with particular reference to the Letters and Sounds phases. The teaching of phonics at KS2 will also be discussed. Delegates will have the opportunity to watch and discuss a phonics session, focusing on each element of the recommended teaching sequence. They will also become familiar with a range of activities and resources which can be used to enhance the teaching of phonics. | ||||||
| Additional information | Trainer Biography - Kathy Ewers, Education Adviser (Teaching&Learning) With a background in English subject leadership and special needs, Kathy specialises in phonics, spelling and reading offering a range of CPD courses in these areas along with bespoke support for schools. She is an accredited trainer for a number of interventions including FFT Wave 3 Literacy, Write Away Together,Talking Partners and Inference Training. Kathy is also an experienced moderator and a Basic Skills Quality Mark assessor.
