Event Summary A webinar to explore key concepts and teaching approaches for the learning of fractions across the primary phase.
Event description When the National Curriculum for England was implemented in 2014, one of the most noticeable developments was the raising of expectations in the teaching of fractions and related concepts. Now, pupils in the primary phase encounter concepts that, for decades, sat firmly within the secondary curriculum. In addition, Key Stage 2 testing materials are structured so that approximately 25% of the content is focussed on fractions and related ideas.

With a careful progression in the teaching of these areas, coupled with the models and images that make the learning clear, primary age children are able to master these ideas.

This webinar will explore key concepts and ideas throughout the primary phase in the learning of fractions, decimals and percentages, illustrating models and teaching approaches to deliver this learning effectively.

An excellent counterpart to this session would be the webinar Effective Teaching of Ratio and Proportion.
