Event Summary | This course is intended for Year 2 teachers, including NQT s, who are new to administering or coordinating end of Key Stage 1 assessments. Some more experienced teachers may also feel that it is important to update their knowledge and understanding. | ||||||
Event description | The course will provide opportunities to become familiar with the current statutory regulations in relation to end of Key Stage 1 assessments and discuss related issues. In particular schools need to ensure they are aware of national criteria and standards when making level judgements. Therefore the course will also include opportunities to discuss and moderate nationally agreed samples of children's work. Quote: 'I really feel better equipped to do my job well' (NQT) |

Learning outcomes | How will the pupils benefit? Children's learning will be accurately assessed and used to inform: • effective planning for Y2 teaching• end of KS1 Teacher Assessment • dialogue with Y3 teachers which should ensure a smooth transition for all pupils into KS2. How will the school benefit? Through attendance at the course schools can be more confident that delegates will: • gain an increased knowledge of the statutory assessment requirements at Key Stage 1; • have an opportunity to gain familiarity with national exemplification of teacher assessed levels; • develop greater understanding of issues relating to teacher assessment; • increased confidence in their teacher assessment judgements. |
