Event Summary | Do you have pupils in your school who are struggling to grasp basic reading and writing skills? This course will provide TAs with a range of strategies and practical ideas for supporting these children. | ||||||
Event description | This course will explore some of the common difficulties which limit a pupil's early literacy development and examine possible solutions to these difficulties. Aspects covered will include: • The importance of reading and telling stories • Developing phonological awareness skills • Extending known vocabulary for reading • Strategies to support simple composition • Building a vocabulary of known words for writing |

Trainer Biography - Kathy Ewers, Education Adviser (Teaching&Learning) With a background in English subject leadership and special needs, Kathy specialises in phonics, spelling and reading offering a range of CPD courses in these areas along with bespoke support for schools. She is an accredited trainer for a number of interventions including FFT Wave 3 Literacy, Write Away Together,Talking Partners and Inference Training. Kathy is also an experienced moderator and a Basic Skills Quality Mark assessor. Displayed fees are subject to VAT |
